On Tuesday 19 January, Dalmuir 'B' made the trip to Bearsden to face Bearsden 'B'.

Bellshill had the honour of first footing Dalmuir for the Dumbarton League Division 1 clash on Monday 11 January.

Tom Tait made the journey to the Toolbooth, Lanark on Monday 21 December to participate in the Pat Coffey Simul.

The simultaneous exhibition was held to raise funds for Lochaber Mountain Rescue who searched tirelessly for Lanark chess player Tom Brown who disappeared in the Glen Nevis area earlier in the year.

Based in Fort William, the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was founded in the 1960's by a group of local climbers with the aim of helping fellow climbers who get into difficulties in Lochaber District.  The area they cover includes the UK's highest peak, Ben Nevis as well as the islands of Rum, Muck and Canna; and much of Rannoch Moor and the Northern section of the West Highland Way.

Unfortunately Tom had to leave before the completion of his game to catch the last train back to Glasgow.

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Allan Brown a former member of Dalmuir Chess Club.

Allan sadly passed away in the Royal Alexandra Hospital Paisley on Saturday 4 February 2017.  Allan's Family and friends were present as he lost his battle against cancer.  A service will be held in Cardross Crematorium at 11.15 am on Monday 13 February 2017.

Allan had been a very keen and enthusiastic chess player all his life, and had also been a member of Concord and Phones Chess Clubs, as well as Dalmuir.  Allan was well known and respected by members of all the chess clubs in the Dumbarton & District and the Glasgow & District Chess Leagues, not to mention those who had the privilege to meet him at congresses throughout his chess career.

There will be a small Allegro competition to be held in the Concord Community Centre, Dumbarton on Saturday 11 February 2017.  The allegro competition will consist of an invitation only event in the senior section, with a junior competition to help promote chess in the Dunbartonshire area.  The competition is being held in in memory of Allan Brown who sponsored the event prior to his passing.

Dalmuir 'A' faced a tough pre-Christmas match as they travelled to Stepps on Thursday 17 December.
